NTT America launches enhanced multi-link Ethernet product

NTT America has introduced a new version of VLink, a multi-location Ethernet service that provides carriers, ISPs and enterprises direct connectivity for their various locations and can be used as an alternative point-to-point connection.

Directed at the business user's ongoing migration to cloud-based services, NTT America's VLink allows these companies to integrate their WAN reach into existing Ethernet-based LANs. One area of concern that enterprises have cited about migrating to a cloud environment has been security.

VLink, a Layer 2 Virtual Private Network (L2VPN) offering, tackles the security issue by maintaining a prioritized path on the network to carry data, voice, and video all on the same physical link, offering more secure connectivity for companies to interconnect corporate Ethernet-based LANs.

Available in three configurations:

- VLink Direct,
- VLink Plus,
- VLink Mesh.

The service allows customers to combine the L2VPN and Internet access (either IPv4 or dual-stack IPv4/IPv6) on the same physical port. VLink Direct offers point-to-point connections for two locations, while VLink Plus can connect two or more locations to a satellite office and VLink Mesh can connect three or more locations.
